Switzerland’s median salary has passed CHF 7,000 a month for the first time.
New figures from the Federal Statistics Office show that full-time workers earned a median of CHF 7,024 in 2024 — up 246 francs on two years ago.
The survey highlights wide disparities: the lowest-paid ten percent earn under CHF 4,600, while the top ten percent receive more than 12,500.
Research, pharmaceuticals and banking remain the highest-paid sectors; retail, hospitality and hotels the lowest.
The gender pay gap continues to narrow, now at 8.4 percent – one percent less than 2022.
But what is the highest paying sector in the country? No prizes for saying banking, average salary at CHF 10,723. But if you want to be paid more than that – the tobacco sector pays on average CHF 14,304.
