Geneva and the organisers of the anti-G7 march are at an impasse over the cortege route, less than three weeks before the summit in nearby Évian.
The cantonal government has offered a path that stops short of the Mont-Blanc bridge - which police will seal off - and warned the march will be revoked if the No-G7 coalition refuses.
The coalition, representing 60 organisations, calls the proposed route a security risk and accuses authorities of playing a "dangerous game". A legal appeal is already lodged with the cantonal administrative court.
The protest is set for 14 June, with thousands expected on the streets of Geneva.
