Another horse euthanized in St Moritz

The prestigious horse racing event, White Turf in St Moritz, has ended on a sombre note after a second horse was put down during this year’s event.

The races are held on the frozen lake, and have been held every year since 1907.

Hasta La Vista suffered a serious tendon injury during Sunday’s ski-joring race where skiers are pulled behind the animal.

It had to be put down.

Organisers insist the injury was unrelated to the racetrack, blaming skier error.

Two weeks earlier, another horse, Top Max, also died following a fall.

Animal rights group PETA has now called for a ban on racing on the lake, though authorities say no welfare breaches were found.
