A wolf being tracked by researchers has surprised everyone by swimming across Lake Lucerne.
The male wolf tracked a journey of nearly 240 kilometers in just eleven days, migrating eastward from the Jura Mountains through Canton Fribourg to the Emmental.
Then he faced a challenge - Lake Lucerne.
Instead of circumventing the lake, the tracking data shows the wolf swam nearly 2 kilometers in water temperatures of only 5 degrees.
Experts say they’ve never seen that before.
