Another Geneva church to go

Perhaps a sign of the times, Geneva – the home of the Protestant movement - is losing another protestant church.

The Church of Servette on avenue Wendt is to be decommissioned and turned into apartments and commercial premises.

The church has already applied to demolish the building in Champel to build a new community centre – but it dates from the 1930s and is considered architecturally important and a review is underway.

The reason is money. The Protestant Church of Geneva will use the proceeds to help with its finances and refurbish other churches.
