The Geneva University Hospital is launching its annual blood donation drive.
It’s looking for 1,000 donations before Christmas.
Tomorrow the catering department will be offering seasonal food, such as Yule logs, macaroons and cakes for anyone who gives blood.
The hospital says there’s always a drop in donations at this time of year which is why the holiday drive is so important.
There are also hopes that new donors may become regulars once they start.
Those with type O blood are most keenly wanted.
It’s open to anyone aged between 18 and 60 – with some exceptions.
Those who’ve tested positive for AIDS, hepatitis or syphilis are not allowed, nor anyone who’s injected drugs, had a blood transfusion since 1980 or spent more than 6 months in the UK between 1980 and 1996.
