Shopkeepers in Annemasse are counting on the extended tram line to win back the Geneva customers they say have deserted the town centre
Line 17 was extended by just over a kilometre in mid October, crossing deeper into the French border town's commercial heart.
Local traders hope the new stops — placed near the junction of rue du Commerce and rue des Voirons — will reconnect them with Swiss-franc spending power.
Many frontaliers already live and shop on both sides of the border, but Annemasse retailers say they have lost ground in recent years.
