Annecy pays tribute to knife victims

Annecy

Hundreds gathered yesterday in Annecy to pay tribute to the victims of the knife attack last week.

Six were injured, including four very young children – who are all now out of danger.

The tribute was organised by the city in the park where the attack took place.

Many laid flowers on the playground with messages of support for the injured.

The mayor, François Astorg said it was a sign of unity and solidarity and he praised all those who acted to help during the attack.

In addition to two municipal agents who intervened, a young worker from a nearby pedal boat rental firm and a maths teacher all rushed to fend off the knifeman.

The attacker is a Syrian refugee who lives in Sweden. Reports say he’s staying silent about his motives. He’s currently in solitary confinement.
