Airlines complain of unfair treatment

Lufthansa Group

Airlines say the current testing requirements are unfair to their industry and frustrating for passengers.

Following a report in the mass market Blick newspaper that negative test certificates were only being checked sporadically, the airlines and airports say the current system is incomprehensible.

A spokeswoman for Zurich airport says the rules that all air-travellers have to show a test, but those arriving by land don't, is inconsistent.

A view echoed by the airlines. Edelweiss says entry requirements should be the same for everyone.

But the Federal Health Office says air passengers could have recently transited a high-risk area, even if they’ve come from a relatively safe country and it’s easier to check at airport borders.
