Active shooter alert in Carouge school

Students at a vocational school in Carouge locked themselves into their classrooms and hid under their desks following an active shooter alert yesterday morning.

It turned out to be a false alarm, but it took around half an hour to be sure.

The shooter alarm Is known as AMOK and was introduced in Geneva after the 1999 Columbine massacre in the US.

Heavily armed police, as well as the fire service, responded quickly.
