Aargau accused of nannystateism

Twitter

Health authorities in canton Aargau have seemingly upset many people for different reasons after what should have been a fairly innocuous Tweet.

Many people consider a ‘fondue chinoise’ or a meat fondue, a traditional meal in the run up to Christmas.

So, to help keep everyone healthy – the canton Tweeted a picture on how to arrange the mixture of raw meats and cooked meat.

No one is disputing the importance of keeping the raw and the cooked meat separate – but the picture showing uncooked chicken on the same plate as other raw meat is causing consternation.

Some say raw chicken should be on a different plate.

Not necessary says the canton – providing all the meat is cooked properly, it won’t be a problem. The cooking will kill all the germs.

But others say it’s a waste of taxpayer’s money to explain how to cook a meat fondue, describing it as the nanny state.
