A1 widening back on agenda?

Anti-roads campaigners are crying foul as it seems the widening of the autoroutes is now back on the agenda despite being rejected by the people in a tightly fought vote in November.

After the rejection of the massive scheme, the transport minister Albert Rösti gave a speech in January launching a major study, Transport 45, designed to come up with solutions.

It seems one of the solutions is widen the A1 between Geneva and Nyon, which was specifically voted down.

Campaigners are calling that unacceptable and insist road building must be curtailed in favour of rail and soft mobility.
