The expansion and improvement of the A1 autoroute between Geneva and Nyon has cleared he final hurdle after the Federal Council green-lit the project.
The autoroute from Geneva, to Coppet and Nyon will be redesigned to remove bottlenecks and improve safety.
The road will be widened by a lane in each direction and new ramps will be built at the major junctions.
At the same time new bus lanes will be built on the local cantonal roads.
The cost of the whole project is estimated to be close to a billion francs.
But we’ll have to wait – construction won’t even start for 10 years and the decision could still be challenged by a referendum.
