The Swiss population has passed the 9 million mark.
The latest figures from the Federal Statistics Office show there 9,002,000 [people living in the country at the end of June.
The population growth is staying steady. It took 12 years to climb from 8 million to 9 million.
The same length of time it took to grow a million to 6 million between 1955 and 1967.
The first census taken in 1850 listed the population at 2.4 million.
