Ballot papers for the upcoming federal elections have been sent out by the Post Office.
That’s 5 million voting papers weighing 2,000 tonnes. It took sorting machines 2 weeks running full time to get the envelopes read for delivery.
By law the papers must be delivered to households at the same time.
The official date of the election is the 22nd – but half of voters will vote by post.
The Post Office says to make sure they’re counted on election day, it’s advisable to post them by the 17th – maybe 2 days later if sending by ‘A’ post.
