1,000 Ukrainians arrive everyday

Geneva refugee hotline

Around 1,000 Ukrainian refugees are arriving in Switzerland everyday – and the State Secretariat for Migration says they don’t expect that flow to change anytime soon.

But there are now more spaces for the new arrivals. Around 2,500 beds are ready for immediate use before people are allocated more permanent housing.

40% of the refugees are being homed by private individuals, but they are being urged to make themselves known to the authorities if they haven’t already done so.

The Swiss organization for Aid to Refugees says it helps to make sure children are put in school, allocating doctors and paying social support.

But most of the refugees are not ready to work yet. The Swiss Labor Office says many need to have a level of stability before they can enter the labour market.
