For the second consecutive year, authorities in Yverdon-les-Bains, in the canton of Vaud, have reported a deficit, but the figures are not as bad as had been expected.
The deficit for 2022 has been blamed on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, rising energy costs and inflation.
The budget for Yverdon-les-Bains had allowed for a deficit of 10.2 million francs for 2022 but ended up being just 4.3 million francs short. In 2021, the deficit was almost 1.9 million francs.
Authorities say that a reduction in personnel costs has helped to balance the books along with an increase in tax revenue of 2.2 million francs.
