Worries over summer water supplies

There are worries we could have a severe drought this summer – especially around Geneva and Vaud.

Despite the earlier thunderstorms, it wasn’t enough to make up for months of below-average rainfall.

Meteonews say the Ascension weekend will be warm and dry, which is good news for those taking a break, but bad news for water supplies.

It's likely to stay dry for the rest of the month.

There are models coming out from forecasters in the rest of Europe that suggest a very hot and dry summer.

The Federal Council says it wants to set up an early warning system to monitor the country’s water supplies.
