More than three thousand people rallied in Geneva last night in support of the Freedom Flotilla, after Israeli forces began boarding humanitarian boats on Wednesday.
The demonstration began at the top of the Rue de Chantepoulet with chants and banners calling for solidarity with Gaza.
Within minutes, protesters blocked traffic and later lit fires on the asphalt, sending thick smoke into the air.
The crowd then marched toward the Mont Blanc Bridge, where they encountered a police barricade.
Attempts to push through were met with tear gas, and property damage was reported along the route. The situation escalated again near Rue du Mont-Blanc, where police deployed water cannon and tore down banners.
By nightfall, parts of Geneva station were occupied, disrupting train traffic. Later, windows and terrace furniture were damaged on Rue du Mont-Blanc.
Police used tear gas and fired projectiles into the crowd, making at least one arrest.
