Vaud police chiefs condemn electric collar use

Vaud police chiefs say there will be repercussions on those who authorised the use of electric dog collars on new recruits.

They promised action after press reports revealed the unusual training on new members of a rapid reaction force.

The collars were originally for training police dogs – but their use on the animals is now banned.

The reports suggest those running selection courses used the collars as a way of increasing stress on applicants.

A police spokesman says that while they appreciate the process had t be tough – it needs to be done with respect.
