Travel quarantine could return for autumn

The government may bring back travel quarantine requirements to cover the autumn holiday period after cases here surged after many people arrived back over the summer.

One of the main hotspots was the Balkans – specifically Kosovo. Authorities there lifted virtually all restrictions and the country became a clubbing centre and Europe’s festival hub.

To compound the problem, one returnee told the press it was easy to buy a fake result at the airport in Pristina.

The Federal Corona Task Force says more than a third in hospital had recently been in a country in south eastern Europe.

The Health Minister, Alain Berset, says there is a chance quarantine could again play a role to protect the country this fall.
