Torrential rain hits canton Zurich

Torrential rain and flash floods hit several areas of canton Zurich yesterday evening. Forecasters had issued a level three warning, out of five, but only less than an hour beforehand.

Pedestrian underpasses were flooded, roads were closed due to landslides. Across the canton there were nearly 200 calls to the emergency services.

The exact extent of the damage is still being assessed.

But the storms passed as quickly as they arrived.

But the good news is, this weekend is set to be sunny and hot – possibly up at 28 degrees.
