This January warmest on record

This January has been the warmest since records began. Several record highs were recorded across the country.

Rainfall was also above average.

Météosuisse has released figures showing the average January temperature is minus 1.5, but this month is 1.8 degrees above the norm.

In some towns the rise was even more marked. In Sion in canton Valais, it was 2.6 degrees above average and Bern 2.5.

Some days were very spring like – in Lucerne on the 25th, temperatures reached 17 and in canton Ticino, south of the Alps, it was 22.
