Tens of thousands demonstrated in Bern on Saturday, calling on the government to bring in urgent and radical new measures to protect the climate.
The Bundesplatz outside the Federal Palace wasn’t big enough to hold all those who’d gathered. The crowd spilled over into nearby streets.
The organisers, Swiss Climate Alliance claims 60,000 turned up.
Saturday was the last day demonstrations would be permitted.
According to tradition, demonstrations are not permitted in the month of the federal elections.
Voters will be choosing a new parliament on the 22nd.
