Switzerland is spending half a million francs on lobbying the United States to make sure it keeps access to the latest AI technology.
The government has engaged the US law firm, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld – it’s one of the most powerful lobbying firms in the States.
The issue is, the US is bringing in new export rules for access to cutting edge AI chips. They’ll only be available to ‘trusted allies’ and currently, Switzerland is not on that list.
The new rules come into force next month.
