Vladimir Petkovic, the most successful national football manager in Swiss history, is leaving his post to become the new manager of Les Girondins Bordeaux.
The French club confirmed the move last night.
Petkovic is expected to sign a three-year contract with Bordeaux to start this season after an agreement was reached with the Swiss Football Association to free the coach from his contract.
Earlier this month, the Swiss national team reached the quarterfinals of the European Championship, knocking out defending champions France.
Les Girondins Bordeaux clearly haven’t held any grudges over the French defeat and say that they are delighted to be welcoming the Swiss manager on to their team.
