Elon Musk’s Starlink internet system has been granted local permission to open up one of the biggest ground stations in Europe in Leuk in canton Valais.
The area is already home to several large satellite communications systems.
Locals are objecting to the installation – claiming the frequencies which will used by the ground system will be stronger and higher than any other system.
They also claim the system is being used for military purposes.
They’re planning now to take their complaints to the canton, which could still scupper the project.
