Spring has sprung and winter is over – that’s the conclusion of the meteorologist, Michael Eichmann.
He told the Blick newspaper – even if there was any snow, it wouldn’t last long.
He says it already seems certain March will beat the average of sunny days that could be normally expected at this time of year. He says it will stay bright until the end of the weekend.
This month would generally have 139 hours of sun, we’re already at 149 – and by Sunday, there would be 200.
But the big question is – can you put the summer tyres on? The motoring organisation, the TCS, says use your common sense. If you live in a city and have no immediate plans to head into the mountains then yes. But if you live on the higher ground or venture to the slopes regularly, then wait.
It’s also worth noting that the areas of neighbouring France are designated mountainous by the French government – so all cars entering France until, the end of the month, have to have winter tyres.
