Scuffles between MPs and police in Bern

Scuffles between MPs and police (c) X

Scuffles broke out at the Federal Palace yesterday between police officers and parliamentarians.

Heavily armed federal officers patrolled the building due to a visit by the Ukrainian parliamentary president, Ruslan Stefanchuk.

Surrounding streets were sealed and access to the building was tightly controlled.

This led to altercations as Swiss People’s Party members, Michael Graber and Thomas Aeschi, were forcibly forced down a staircase by police.
Graber told the press that it’s unacceptable for the police to use physical violence against them.

The police say they were only following orders. Graber said people who don’t use their heads and only follow orders would have been first in the Third Reich.
