Locals who live around the Russian embassy in Bern say they’re fed up with the anti-social behaviour of their neighbours and the foreign ministry has intervened.
Residents say Russian diplomats drive far too fast on the local roads – where the limit is 30 – and they park their cars illegally and carelessly.
In a letter to the foreign minister, Ignazio Cassis, locals say it’s a dangerous situation.
The ministry says it has written to the Russians asking them to be more considerate and obey traffic laws.
The embassy is denying the allegations. The ambassador, Sergei Garmonin told the NZZ that no diplomats have ever been fined for speeding and the embassy pays all minor traffic fines, such as parking tickets.
