The cautious first stage reopening of the economy has had no negative effects on infections. That’s the view of Patrick Mathys from the Federal Health Office.
At a press conference in Bern yesterday, Mathys says cases are falling and the strain on the health system is easing.
Vaccines are being credited for the change, but also more people are wearing masks more often – according to the experts.
The effect of the vaccines can be clearly seen because of those now being treated. Younger people are now in hospital as the elderly have had the jab. The Corona Task Force says those aged between 40 and 60 are now the group most at risk.
But the health office says many age groups are too small to focus on – the aim should be to vaccinate as many people as possible as soon as possible.
