The potential re-development of the Chateau de Divonne has been called off, angering the town’s mayor.
The historic building was ravaged by fire in January 2017, no one was hurt at the time.
Last year the French hotel group Centaurus said it would rebuild, creating a 5-star hotel and spa. But they have now withdrawn.
Divonne’s mayor, Vincent Scattolin, says he believes it was complicated French administration that deterred new investment – he says the town is hugely disappointed.
