Police are investigating after a 5G mobile phone mast was damaged and a letter left behind threatening further damage unless the phone companies pay millions of francs.
Last month a mast in Uttigen in canton Bern was set on fire. The damage is estimated at CHF 30,000.
A blackmail letter was found at the scene. The arsonists are demanding CHF 4m from Swisscom, CHF 3m from Sunrise and CHF 2m from Salt. If the money is not paid, there will be more attacks.
Swisscom has filed a criminal complaint.
Police say information of the attack was not released at the time as they were investigating. They’re not sure if the letter is a serious threat.
