A lay preacher is on trial in Geneva for murder after a 73-year-old woman died after attending a spiritual retreat run by the man.
The 59-year-old preacher, who was authorized to run the retreat by the Geneva Catholic Church, told the woman she didn’t need to take her diabetes medicine – saying that God would cure her.
The woman died shortly after returning home. She stopped her insulin treatment and monitoring her food intake. She even refused to allow her husband to call an ambulance.
She told friends that she was being attacked by ‘the evil one.’
The prosecution says the preacher is directly responsible for her death.
