The head of the pharmaceutical company Roche says there could be a pill to treat coronavirus patients by the end of the year.
Christoph Franz says the development is very exciting and the Swiss company has been working on it since last year.
The pill is already in clinical studies and the results should be known by the summer. If it looks good, it could be sent for approval by the autumn.
There are also hopes the pill will be useful as a preventative measure as well as treating those with symptoms.
