Police in canton Schwyz issued fines to a crowd that gathered outside the Benedictine Abbey in Einsiedeln as part of a traditional ‘Sühudi’ parade yesterday.
It takes place every year and has done for as long as anyone remembers – and so it’s not organized by anyone, it just happens.
The police started by warning people that the meeting was against the law and anyway, everyone should be wearing a mask.
When the crowd failed to disperse the fines started to be handed out. They varied between CHF 50-100 for meeting or mask violations.
The police decided against more forceful ways to end the parade.
