Geneva’s police chief says partial border closures with France are a real possibility during next month’s G7 summit in Évian.
Speaking on RTS, commander Monica Bonfanti said authorities could reintroduce controls or shut some of the 34 crossings if security risks increase. The move is being considered as protests are planned in Geneva, with officials weighing whether to allow, limit or ban demonstrations.
Police say they are preparing for multiple threats - from cyberattacks to unrest - and will be reinforced by forces from across Switzerland.
