Parliament is discussing if executive bankers pay should be capped at CHF 5m.
The motion has already been passed by the Council of States, the upper house – against the advice of the Federal Council.
Now it's up to the lower house, the National Council.
The move is aimed squarely at the head of UBS, Sergio Ermotti, who’s CHF 14m pay packet has raised eyebrows.
The motion has attracted support from the left wing, unsurprisingly – but also several Swiss Peoples’ Party members voted in favour.
The cap is unlikely to affect any other senior bankers as they earn under CHF 5m anyway.
