Only one vote in Geneva yesterday

There was only one vote in canton Geneva yesterday – and that was a communal decision in Troinex to spend just over a million francs on a new bus route to link the commune with the Léman Express train network at Bachet.

Out of 1,289 votes cast, a turnout of 68% - a majority of 69 gave the go ahead.

Those opposed to the service were mainly concerned that the route would use very small roads.

Supporters are delighted at the result. The mayor says the route will go ahead, but detractors say they may take the issue to court.
