Official heat warning in place

Canton Geneva has issued a heatwave alert. The cantonal doctor’s office says the weather will be exceptionally hot for the next few days – likely until Tuesday at least says Meteo Suisse.

The official alert means there will be places available for those most susceptible to get out of the heat – and family members, friends and neighbours are being asked to check up on those who may be vulnerable, like elderly people.

Carouge has opened an air-conditioned room on the Boulevard des Promenades for locals who need to escape the heat.

The advice for everyone is to stay hydrated – at least 1 and a half litres of water per adult, avoid sporting activity and eat cold meals.

And as always – don’t leave dogs in cars.
