New University of Lausanne study

Couples share not only similar backgrounds but also more of their DNA than chance would predict

Researchers analysed British and Estonian population data and found significant genetic similarity across seven traits, most clearly for height and level of education. 

Lead author Robin Hofmeister says people don’t screen partners on genetics- the similarity comes indirectly which itself has a partly genetic basis. The team now wants to test the pattern outside Europe in Japan, Africa and the US where education radically differs
