New refugee centre opens in Geneva

Geneva refugees hotline number

A new centre to help the influx of Ukrainian refugees has opened in Geneva.

Run by the Geneva Red Cross and the Hospice Général, the centre will help those arriving to find accommodation, help on permits and schooling, as well as other services.

The centre is also a place where newcomers can meet and children can play together.

Internet access and wi-fi is available and there’s the opportunity for French conversation classes for adults and children.

It’s staffed by Ukrainian and Russian speakers. The Red Cross says the volunteers will be trained in psychological first aid. More than 200 people have offered to help run the centre.
