In the third Federal vote, it was a resounding rejection of an initiative to change the way judges are selected.
Campaigners for change wanted a more arbitrary system, instead of the current method which is linked to political parties.
The current system has been criticised by European anti-corruption bodies.
While the government has in the past suggested it is open to some changes - it urged a rejection as it believes the initiative was too extreme.
The people agreed – nearly 70% said no to the idea and no canton backed it either.
