New idea to provide quality news to young people

An initiative by canton Vaud aims to direct young people to a new news source which is compiled by professional journalists.

The new media is called ‘Chek.’ The hope is young voters will be able to use their democratic voice in full knowledge of the facts.

It’s pulling together many existing news sources, such as Les Temps and other local papers.

Although the project is being financed by the canton, it will be editorially independent.

It will be launched on social media channels such as TikTok, Instagram and Mastodon.
