In an effort to limit the amount of traffic in the middle of Geneva, the city has put up a barrier in Saint-Gervais.
It means only cars looking to park at the Manor car park will be able to pass through the Place Grenus.
While road signs have signalled that transit traffic is banned – they were routinely ignored says the city.
For the next four weeks, a traffic officer will be at the barrier to allow drivers who simply want to pass to get through. But they will explain that soon it will be impossible.
