Most dense area of Switzerland is in Geneva

The most densely populated part of the whole country is a square kilometre pocket in Geneva.

29,000 people live in the area just behind the train station, around the Servette and Les Grottes communities.

For comparison, the densest square kilometre in Zurich is 20,000.

Geneva is known as being crowded. Isabelle Toumi, the former secretary of the urban planning committee told the Tribune de Genève the authorities wanted to make sure Geneva had its own green spaces, despite land being limited due to the French border.
