Man tried to open door on SWISS flight

A man was arrested at Zurich airport after a SWISS International Airlines flight arrived back from Bangkok.

Witnesses say he had to be restrained on the flight after trying to open the door mid-air. The airline says opening a door in the middle of a flight is impossible, so there was no danger to passengers. It stresses safety is always the top priority.

Crew members had to secure the man at the back of the aircraft.

He was taken into custody in Zurich.

Incidents with unruly passengers are on the rise, according to airlines. Last year, Swiss registered airlines reported 1,347 incidents to the Federal Office of Civil Aviation – that’s about 4 a day.
