A man has died just 100 meters from the summit of the Lagginhorn mountain in canton Valais.
He and a friend were close to their target of the peak when the victim fell.
His companion had to go to a nearby hut to raise the alarm.
The Lagginhorn is in the south of the canton and is 4,000 meters high. It’s known as a mountain more suited for rock climbers.
Helicopter searchers were unable to locate the missing man on Sunday as night fell. The body was found yesterday morning.
