Lottery syndicate players not yet paid

Lotterie Romande still hasn’t paid out the winning ticket bought by an organised syndicate earlier in the year.

One of those tickets is worth CHF 2.9m.

The head of the lottery, Jean-Luc Monet-Banet, says there must be checks relating to money laundering laws.

In an interview with the Tribune de Genève, he says when a group shows up with two million francs in small bills – there has to be an investigation.

In early January, members of the group, who seemingly all spoke English, systematically bought tickets from small shops with large sums of money.

He says if the checks show no foul play – the winnings will be paid out.
