Lausanne's city centre is bracing for major traffic disruption on Thursday evening as thousands prepare to march against proposed austerity measures
The rally starts at 6pm on the Montbenon esplanade before heading through the Grand-Chêne, Saint-François and the Bessières bridge, and up to the place du Château.
Public sector workers are expected to turn out in force to protest the canton's 2027 budget cuts.
Police will set up diversions along the route, and residents are being urged to use public transport instead of driving through the centre.
